Research Area:

Advanced technologies for energy storage and conversion
Functional micro-nano materials and novel energy devices

Laser processing and intelligent manufacturing of energy materials and devices

Research Experience:

Dr. Xiaofei Sun is currently an associate professor at School of Mechanical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University (China). He obtained his B.E. and B.M in 2005, M.E. in 2008 and PhD in 2013 from Xi’an Jiaotong University, and worked there since then. He was a visiting student in professor Gerbrand Ceder’s group at Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2008-2009. His research interest is focused on understanding, designing and manufacturing of advanced materials and devices for high-efficiency energy storage and conversion, particularly of rechargeable lithium/sodium batteries. He has published around 60 papers (including papers in Advanced Energy Materials, Energy and Environmental Materials, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Journal of Power Sources, etc.) and 3 book chapters (Chinese), and has delivered over 20 academic speeches. He has also applied more than 25 Chinese patents including 10 authorized ones. His work has been recognized by several academic awards including the Science and Technology Award (Second Class) of Shaanxi Province (China), the Science and Technology Award (First Class) of Colleges in Shaanxi (China), the VEBLEO Scientist Award, and the best poster award of 7th International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies (ICMAT2013). He also contributed one powder diffraction pattern to the International Center for Diffraction Data (ICDD) in 2016.
